Gweithiodd timau graenau awdurdodau lleol ddydd a nos a dros y Sul i garthu ffyrdd a phalmentydd – dim ond ychydig o enghreifftiau o ba mor galed mae gweithwyr cynghorau Cymru wedi gweithio dros yr wythnosau diwethaf i gadw Cymru’n symud, cymunedau’n ddiogel a gwasanaethau rheng flaen yn weithredol.

Fframwaith o Wasanaethau ar gyfer Pobl Hŷn
Mae Llywodraeth y Cynulliad wedi amlinellu ei gynigion ar gyfer y Fframwaith o Wasanaethau ar gyfer Pobl Hŷn. Bydd hyn yn hybu datblygiad ystod briodol o wasanaethau lleol sy’n cydweithio i ymateb i anghenion a dewisiadau pobl hŷn a’u gofalwyr. Dylai’r gwasanaethau hyn eu helpu i barhau i fyw neu ddychwelyd i fyw yn eu cartrefi eu hunain neu mewn amgylchedd cartrefol, gan sicrhau eu bod yn gallu bod mor annibynnol â phosibl.

WLGA praises the huge efforts of Welsh council workers during the recent bad weather
Local authority gritting teams working night and day and on weekends to clear roads and pavements are just a few examples of the outstanding lengths that Welsh council workers have gone to over the last few weeks to keep Wales moving, communities safe and to keep frontline services operational.

Vale social services beat snow to deliver services Essential social services such as meals on wheels have been making it through the snow in the Vale of Glamorgan, thanks to partnership working across the council and staff being determined to provide services.

Framework of Services for Older People
The Welsh Assembly Government has outlined its proposals for the Framework of Services for Older People. This will promote the development of the appropriate range of local services working together to respond to the needs and the preferences of older people and their carers. These services should help them to continue or return to live at home or in a homely environment as independently as possible.

SOCIAL CARE ACCOLADES WORKSHOPS
Practice Worth Sharing Events 2010 - Training and Recruitment (February) and Working with the Community (March)
The Care Council is very pleased to announce that the projects to be showcased at the above events have now been confirmed!
Since 2005, the Social Care Accolades have brought to the fore shining examples of best practice in the social care sector in Wales. So that all can learn from the good work of past-winners of Accolades, the Care Council is bringing together winning projects from the past three years and grouping them in themed events to showcase their work.
Similar events already held in October and November were very positively received by both delegates and presenters alike (with feedback scores averaging 9 out of 10). All agreed that learning about Accolade winning projects was certainly inspiring and useful. Feedback from the events and further information about the Accolades can be found here.
In February and March, the six organisations presenting their winning projects on each date will be as follows:
25 February – Training and Recruitment
Partnership Working - Pendine Park Teaching Care Centre/Conwy County Borough Council
Traineeship Scheme - Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council
Social Care Smal and Medium Enterprises Project - Coleg Sir Gar
Intermediate Labour Market - Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council
Youth Supported Employment Programme - Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council
Night Assessor, NVQ Team - Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council
25 March – Working with the Community
The Kim Project
Ceri’s Family – Denbighshire County Council
Iaith ar Waith – Ceredigion County Council
Recruitment and Retention Action Group - Mid Wales Social Care Partnership
Promoting Social Care – Pendine Teaching Care Centre / St Joseph’s School
Golden Heart Awards – Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council
Registration forms can be found here and include further details of the projects and workshop selections for each event.
Pre-registration is required but these events are FREE to attend and open to anybody working within the sector. Places for each event are allocated on ‘a first come, first served’ basis, so to secure places at the workshops of your choice, we recommend an early response.
Please feel free to forward these details onto any colleagues, or associates, who may be interested in attending. Forms should be returned by fax or email (accolades@ccwales.org.uk) by the dates recommended at the foot of each respective form.
